The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in a house. Everybody uses it to prepare a meal or grab a snack. It gets dirty very easy and cleaning it can take a long time. That is why regular maintenance is the key to a sparkly clean kitchen. With regular maintenance, the hygiene levels will also be high and you shall not worry about the buildup of any bacteria, which can be dangerous. Below are some tips that can help you tackle the mess quickly and efficiently.

Always stay on top of the cleaning

In order to achieve that, you should think of a routine that can help you to effectively and quickly clean without exhausting yourself.

There is nothing worse than the piled up dishes. A typical family of four can within a couple of hours fill the sink up and if you don’t have a dishwasher this can turn into an overwhelming task. That is why you need to create the rule that everybody washes their own dishes. This way, you save a lot of time and efforts. After you cook a meal make sure to clean the worktops and the cooker and wipe the backsplash and the appliances that you have used. Before you go to bed, you can quickly sweep or mop the kitchen floor. It takes no more than 5 minutes if done on daily basis. If you do that, the result will be one bacteria free and shiny kitchen. Once a month, you can deep clean the oven and the sink and all drains. Also, once a month, you can wash the dish rack and the cutlery holder.

The dishwasher has to be cleaned regularly too

It is a common misconception that the dishwasher cleans itself and you don’t have to do anything. The truth is that after every cycle, there is a small portion of dirt and grease left that is invisible to the naked eye. Also, the pipes, filters, drains and pumps collect lime scale and grease that needs to be removed regularly. In order to remove the dirt and accumulated grease, you should run an empty cycle with the appropriate dishwasher cleaning solution. Do that once a month and your dishwasher will last a long time and will always smell fresh.

Clean your oven

The oven can prove a tough appliance to clean especially if regularly neglected. That is why it is advisable to perform a monthly cleaning with baking soda, salt and water. That is all you need. Mix the ingredients and spread the mixture on the inside of the oven. Leave it like that overnight and in the morning simply wipe it clean. Do that once a month and the results will be amazing.

Regularly clean the pantry and fridge

The fridge and the pantry house a lot of foods with different smells. The odours in these two food storage places can mix and become unpleasant. That is why it is advisory to clean them regularly to prevent unpleasant odours.

In the pantry, you should once a week wipe all shelves with a damp cloth and cleaning solution. Dry immediately afterwards. If you notice any food that has expired, throw it away immediately and then restack the shelves.

The fridge needs to be cleaned every time you buy need food. This way, you will get rid of any old and expired food before you restock. Work your way from the top to the bottom and wipe all shelves using soapy water and a cloth. Dry afterwards.

Following these simple steps will guarantee you a clean and fresh kitchen free of any bacteria and germs.
